My Experience Learning English in Freshman Year
My Initial Struggle
As a freshman, learning English was a daunting task for me. I struggled with pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. It felt like a completely different language compared to what I was used to speaking. But with the help of my patient teacher and supportive classmates, I slowly but surely began to improve.
Building Up My Vocabulary
One of the biggest challenges for me was building up my vocabulary. I soon realized that having a wide vocabulary would open up many doors for me when it came to reading and writing in English. I began to read as much as I could, both inside and outside of class. Additionally, I started using flashcards to memorize new words and would test myself regularly to check my progress.
Improving My Pronunciation
Another challenge I faced was improving my pronunciation. It was difficult at first, but I soon realized that listening to and imitating native speakers was the best way to go about it. I would watch English movies with subtitles and try to mimic the actors’ accents. I also started recording myself speaking and comparing it to how native speakers talked.
Mastering Grammar
Finally, mastering English grammar was crucial. I spent a lot of time studying grammar rules and practicing with exercises. I also made sure to ask my teachers whenever I had a question or needed clarification. As I continued to practice, I became more confident and was able to apply what I learned in my writing and speaking.
Conclusion
Learning English has been a challenging but rewarding experience for me. With hard work and determination, I was able to overcome my initial struggles and improve my language skills. I am grateful for the assistance of my teachers and classmates, who played a big role in helping me succeed. I look forward to continuing my journey in mastering the English language.
